DeSanto accessorized the dress with colorful Swarovski crystal jewelry by Tarina Tarantino, including a blue butterfly statement necklace. Columbia Pictures/Everett CollectionDecades later, the dress has become a beloved artifact for nostalgic rom-com fans and modern fashion enthusiasts alike. “(Garner) put it on, we got her all dolled up, she went to dance, and we moved on,” she said. DeSanto also credits director Gary Winick, who died in 2011, for the film’s fashion sense. As DeSanto points out, “13 Going on 30” is a story about a young woman coming into herself — and how, more than anything, it’s important just to be yourself.

CNN —Roberto Cavalli, the Italian fashion designer who made his mark on the fashion world with distinctive, glamorous animal prints, has died at the age of 83. Roberto Cavalli walks the runway after a fashion show showcasing his label's designs in Budva, Montenegro on June 10, 2013. Along with animal prints and intarsia leather, denim became a core element of his signature style, leading to the establishment of a more youthful offshoot brand, Just Cavalli, in 1998. Flanked by models in quintessential Cavalli florals and animal prints, Roberto Cavalli takes his bow after his label's Spring-Summer 2015 menswear show at Milan Fashion Week on June 24, 2014. “Dear Roberto, you may not be physically here with us anymore but I know I will feel your spirit with me always.

Roberto Cavalli, a Life Out Loud

His animal prints did not always originate from nature but from his own imagination, chimeras of exotic skins that telegraphed excess, sex and aspiration. If Gianni Versace was the id of Italian fashion, Mr. Cavalli made it roar, hitting mass saturation in the late nineties as an antidote to the minimalism of Jil Sander and Helmut Lang. He stepped into the vacuum created by the murder of Mr. Versace in 1997, was further buoyed by the frothy stock market, and soon, Paris Hilton was wearing him. So was Candace Bushnell, creator of “Sex and the City.” Victoria Beckham was a fan during her Posh Spice era. Little wonder he was the main sponsor of the 2004 show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute: “Wild: Fashion Untamed” — or that Ben Stiller wore Mr. Cavalli’s designs for “Zoolander,” Mr. Stiller’s fashion satire.

Roberto Cavalli, the Italian-born fashion designer who celebrated glamour and excess, sending models down the runway and actresses onto red carpets wearing leopard-print dresses, bejeweled distressed jeans, satin corsets and other unapologetically flashy clothes, has died. His company announced the death on Instagram but provided no details. Mr. Cavalli’s signature style — “molto sexy, molto animal print and molto, molto Italiano,” as the British newspaper The Independent once described it — remained essentially unchanged throughout his long career. But he skillfully reinvented his clothes for different eras, enjoying several renaissances and building a global lifestyle brand in the process. When the model Naomi Campbell wore a pair during a runway show in 1993, stretch jeans became a huge trend.

Supplements like vitamin D or magnesium may be in order. Vitamin D is essential for our bone density, helping us convert calcium into strength. “The great wealth transfer is gaining significant momentum as many billionaire entrepreneurs age,” Benjamin Cavalli, who oversees strategic clients in the global wealth management unit at UBS, told reporters. Their combined wealth rose 9% to $12 trillion, before taking inflation into account. Arnault is the world’s third-richest man, with a net worth of $167 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Risks and opportunity for UBSThe “staggering” transfer of wealth to younger generations presents a huge opportunity for UBS, but also poses considerable risks, according to Cavalli. Heirs lean more toward impact investing — that is, socially or environmentally beneficial investing — over “classic grant-giving philanthropy,” Cavalli said.

The number of billionaires rose by 7% to 2,544 people globally, UBS said in its 2023 Billionaires Ambitions Report, with their total worth rising by 9% to an estimated $12 trillion. For the first time since the study started in 2015, billionaires accumulated more wealth via inheritance than through their own business activities. Among the 137 new billionaires, a total of $150.8 billion was inherited by 53 heirs over the last year, exceeding the 84 new self-made billionaires' total of $140.7 billion, the bank said. The study highlighted a trend away from self-made billionaires, created by the tech industry boom and symbolised by the rise of Tesla boss Elon Musk and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Still, despite the large inherited wealth, this did not necessarily mean a new generation of super-rich 20 somethings.

A new wave of billionaires acquired more wealth through inheritance than entrepreneurship during the last year as a "great wealth transfer" picks up steam, a new report by UBS found. Fifty-three heirs received a total of $150.8 billion, which is higher than the $140.7 billion brought in by 84 new self-made billionaires, the report shows. "The great wealth transfer is gaining significant momentum," Benjamin Cavalli, head of UBS global wealth management strategic clients, told reporters in a briefing on Wednesday. Overall billionaire wealth is recovering, with the number of billionaires being up by 7% in the 12 months to early April of 2023, the UBS analysis showed. Billionaire wealth rose by 9% in this time and ended at around $12 trillion in nominal terms.

But the label’s enthusiasm for its Karol G campaign a half-year after its release is telling, nonetheless. By the time Karol G entered the scene in a big way, fashion, luxury and sportswear giants were still warming up to her male counterparts. SINGAPORE, Aug 29 (Reuters Breakingviews) - UBS (UBSG.S) CEO Sergio Ermotti is facing an Asian wealth bonanza after acquiring Credit Suisse, which has been particularly strong in Indonesia and neighbouring countries. Tidjane Thiam, who ran Credit Suisse from 2015 to 2020, placed a big bet on the region by creating g a standalone Asian unit led by Indonesian banker Helman Sitohang. Former UBS CEO Ralph Hamers said in March that in Asia, more than anywhere globally, the interplay between wealth management and investment banking was important to lure clients. That working combination helped Credit Suisse regularly top equity capital markets and M&A league tables in Southeast Asian markets. UBS regional chief Edmund Koh told an industry event in July that the Swiss bank will manage about $800 billion of assets in Asia this year, Asia Private Banker reported.

LONDON, June 1 (Reuters) - Roberto Cavalli launched a "disruptive" capsule collection outside the traditional catwalk calendar on Thursday as the Italian fashion label seeks to rebrand itself after a few shaky years. Designer Fausto Puglisi looked to a 1994 print drawn by the brand's founder Roberto Cavalli, itself inspired by a rococo depiction of the Greek myth of Leda and the swan, for the "Wild Leda" line, on show at London's Selfridges department store. Previously seen in the fashion house's spring-summer 2023 line, the depiction, matched with animals prints, features on floaty dresses, beachwear, accessories and homeware. "Roberto Cavalli was always famous for obviously the gowns but... he created really a lifestyle... So you have your plates, you have your coffee cups, you have your shoes, you have your bag, you have everything.... (we thought) let's do something that is a bit larger and invites you to discover the world of Roberto Cavalli."

HONG KONG, March 8 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse (CSGN.S) has received regulatory green light from China after years of waiting to launch a full-fledged wealth management business in the world's second-biggest economy, according to a company memo reviewed by Reuters. The expansion comes after the lender suffered worse-than-expected global wealth outflows of 92.7 billion Swiss francs ($98.29 billion) in the fourth quarter. Credit Suisse Securities (China), the company's China joint venture, recently obtained an investment consultancy license, which allows it to create and distribute equity research products onshore and to engage in investment advisory services, according to the memo. Credit Suisse "plans to double the number of relationship managers in China in 2023," said Benjamin Cavalli, the company's head of wealth management for Asia Pacific, without providing details on how many relationship managers it currently has. Total assets at Credit Suisse's wealth division fell to 540.5 billion Swiss francs by the end of last year from 742.6 billion francs a year earlier.
Nudged by private equity funds, those supplying the booming luxury goods industry are now finding strength in unity. Largely family-owned and small in size, these businesses often struggle to meet the changing needs of the luxury brands they work for. "Luxury brands have been growing exponentially: our customers needed us to grow with them," said Nicola Giuntini, whose Tuscany-based company makes luxury coats and jackets for brands including Celine, Burberry (BRBY.L) and Stella McCartney. PRODUCTION NICHESItaly's manufacturing sector has also been a hunting ground for big luxury brands keen to secure their supply chain. Italian private equity firm XENON International, for example, has bet on producers of materials and finishes for luxury items which it has grouped together in MinervaHub.
